Activision has announced two days ago that the old licence "Apache" would come back next Autumn thanks to Gaijin Entertainment, already behind "IL-2"'s revival on next-gen consoles with IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey. Like their former title, Apache: Air Assault will be available on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
The goal in Apache: Air Assault is to prevent terrorist attacks by raining down destruction from above in the world’s most volatile warzones. To accomplish your objectives, you'll get controls over a variety of lethal Apache attack helicopters outfitted with cutting-edge military weaponry.
David Oxford, Activision Publishing wrote:“No games on next-gen consoles have been dedicated to helicopter combat simulation, but that is about to change this autumn”

Your missions will take place along the coast of Africa, the mountains of the Middle East and the jungles of Central America. Each location is meticulously created using high resolution map data from real-world satellite photography. IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey already made us used to magnificent landscapes, the following gallery clearly states that Russian developers from Gaijin Entertainment won't disappoint us on this new title.
Gaijin Entertainment guys also promised us a highly-detailed damage modelling, which was one of IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey's strongest point.
You'll be able to play Apache: Air Assault as an arcade game or an hardcore simulator. A local Co-op Campaign Mode will let two players team up in the same Apache with one as the pilot and the other as the co-pilot. For those that want to go even further, Apache: Air Assault will come with competitive online multiplayer matches such as Team Deathmatch, Ground Attack, Capture the LZ, and Ground Strike.
